The Villa Vespa was founded by George and Marlene Vespa in 1974 after there long engagement with The Hotel Marcy where George was the onsite General manager. George had never cooked before and brought in the assistance of a New York City chef and his assistant. With their help and the support of his family and friends the Villa Vespa restaurant began its metamorphous into what became “A nice little Italian Restaurant” as it read on the sign. George diligently pursued his knowledge of the culinary world by spending the off season at cooking schools throughout Italy. Along with Marlene whose business savvy and strong character sustained the Villa Vespa restaurant throughout its successful years. When George decided to retire, he sold the property. It did not burn down; it was, in fact, a very thoughtful decision that was not taken lightly.
The recipes of the Villa are available to you now through the store of this website. George lives in Lake Placid with his wife Marlene who is a partner and Co-owner of the Villa Vespa Pasta and sauce Co. with her daughter Kimberly Vespa.
